A Familiar Presence
If you’ve looked through some of the work on here already, you’ve probably noticed Tommy showing up pretty often.
There’s a reason for that.
Tommy’s my cousin. We grew up together when we were kids under our grandmother’s care, then eventually life took us in different directions for a while. Different homes, different routines, different stages of life.
Later on, we reconnected as adults, and over time he naturally became part of the creative process behind a lot of what I shoot.
Nothing about it was really planned.
It just worked.
Tommy’s easygoing in front of the camera, which honestly makes a huge difference. He doesn’t overcomplicate things or try too hard to “perform” for the shot. Whatever direction we go creatively, whether it’s something more laid back, cinematic, experimental, or simple, he adjusts to it naturally and lets me build around it.
That balance has probably shaped more of the work on this site than people realize.
A lot of the photos and videos we make aren’t heavily structured beforehand. Sometimes it starts with a location, a conversation, or even just the mood of the day, and we figure things out as we go. Having someone who already understands your rhythm creatively makes that process feel effortless.
Looking back, it’s funny because one of my earliest memories connected to Tommy had nothing to do with photography at all.
He was the first person in the family to really bring gaming around. First consoles, first games, first time all of us got pulled into those worlds together. At the time it was just something fun to do, but thinking about it now, I think a lot of that naturally carried over into creativity later in life.
A lot of what we create now still revolves around immersion, atmosphere, and being present in the moment. Just in a different form.
Now instead of a screen, it’s a camera.
So if you keep seeing him throughout the work on here, now you know why.
